Heathcote is located in central Victoria and is bounded by the township of Rochester to the North, the community of Tooborac to the South, Lake Eppalock to the West and Graytown to the East. Within the region there are many subregions and consequently differing terroirs and microclimates. It is this variation that gives the wines of the region their richness and diversity.
Mitchelton’s Heathcote Shiraz displays intense aromas of fresh blueberry and fruits of the forest lead to a palate redolent with syrupy berry coulis flavours . Fine drying tannins and excellent persistence characterise this unique shiraz impression. Well worth cellaring for 8-10 years.
Fruit is sourced from 10 year old mature vines that produce 1.5 T per acre, with the vineyard containing unique free draining soils composed of Jasper, Ironstone, Quartz and Bluestone.
