The Nagambie region is on the verge of an exciting tourism boost with the establishment of a boutique hotel and Day Spa facility at Mitchelton Winery which will open its doors to the public on December 1st.
The inclusion of a boutique residential hotel will complement and enhance these activities. The hotel will enable Mitchelton Winery to establish itself as a self- contained conference and seminar venue. The hotel will boast an attractive form which is modern and striking, yet complementary to the site’s location on the banks of the Goulburn River and the Robin Boyd influenced architectural style of the existing winery and restaurant buildings.
Works on the Mitchelton Hotel are continuing at a frenetic pace with extensive fit out of the 58 rooms are well underway, 4 of which are luxury suites. Project Manager, John Beresford was enthusiastic about the overall progress.
“Things are really starting to take shape. Over the coming weeks, we will be focusing on fixtures and finishings throughout all accommodation rooms, day spa and lobby/ reception area. Landscaping works are also now fully underway with the shell of the 20m concrete pool now fully visible. We have just unearthed a section above the ceiling of the massive Mitchelton Cellar near the entrance of the hotel. This will be completely re-sealed to allow for water features, pathways and garden beds which will be located at the hotel entrance.
We have been working closely with respected landscaping architect, Jamie Clapham who has been nothing short of fastidious in his design approach taking into consideration existing architecture, native vegetation and the stunning riverine landscape. Now Spring is upon us, we are just hoping the weather will work in our favour over the next two months. It’s been an exciting project to be involved with and when the doors open, the hotel promises to be a major tourism drawcard for the region” - John Beresford.
Facilities for the hotel will include an ‘infinity’ swimming pool and a 9km bushwalking/cycling track which will circumnavigate the vineyard and take in extensive riverside walks. Hotel patrons will be blessed with stunning views towards the Goulburn River, surrounding vineyards and native bush land.
The hotel will further enhance Mitchelton and the Nagambie region as a premium winery and hospitality destination, and the inclusion of a boutique residential hotel promises to enhance the experience for food and wine enthusiasts, corporate and wedding groups.
